In attempt to cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time, I will be crunching the rookie spotlights into one article. Under former GM Marty Hurney, the Panthers were known for adding impact players with first round picks but falling short in the mid-to-late rounds. This lead to a serious lack of depth throughout the Panthers' roster. With only 5 picks in the 2013 draft, limited cap space, and a roster with question marks on both sides of the ball, new GM David Gettleman and his scouting team had to be precise with their evaluations. On top of the 5 rookies the Panthers acquired in the draft, I will also feature 2 undrafted rookies who have been impressive throughout the offseason.
Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah (6'2", 315 lbs)
Throughout the 2012-2013 season, Star was slated as the top defesnive player in the draft class and was often projected as the number one overall pick.
